Slagskib var en betegnelse for de største og mest slagkraftige skibe i en flåde. De største og mest bevæbnede slagskibe blev kaldt dreadnoughts. Nogle dreadnought fik også betegnelsen Star Dreadnought.
Under Klon Krigene og Den Galaktiske Borgerkrig, blev mange mellemstore skibe kaldt "fredsbevarende slagskibe". Venator-class, Victory-class og Imperial-class Star Destroyerne hørte både under denne klasse, og krydser og destroyer. Brugen af flere betegnelser for de samme skibe var fordi de var bygget til flere formål.
